Lalu insults workers

NEW DELHI Union railway minister Lalu Prasad took on striking panchayat Rojgar Sewaks, workers of the UPA government’s pet project the Rural

Employment Guarantee Scheme, on Sunday. The panchayat Rojgar Sewaks have been demanding that their services be regularized and salaries be enhanced but despite strikes and repeated pleas the state government has not heeded their call.

When the striking workers learnt that Lalu Prasad was in Patna they gathered at the RJD chief's office but instead of a patient ear they were asked to leave and were insulted by the railway minister.

As the workers assembled outside Lalu Prasad's house, the minister came out and shouted, "Go protest in the village. Is this the chief minister's house? Who is going to listen if you die? What can I do? Go protest outside the chief minister's house. Move. Get out".
