Hayden calls India a third world country

Australia opener Matthew Hayden on Wednesday termed India as a "third world" country following their humiliating 0-2 loss in the Test series.

Hayden came out strongly in support of captain Ricky Ponting, who surprisingly preferred surrendering the fourth Test in Nagpur to avoid suspension for a slow over rate.

"Often we find ourselves waiting with hands on hips for someone to face up or someone on the sight board to move away or some of those little frustrations happening with third world countries," Hayden was quoted as saying by Australian newspaper The Daily Telegraph.

Hayden believes that Ponting can come out of his Indian misadventure stronger and rebuild another champion Australian team in the near future.

"Ricky's an absolute bloody champion and he has won right across the globe in his reign in his captaincy. I completely endorse where he is at as an individual and a captain. To me, the next six months will show you how he can rebuild another Australia side which has lost a lot of its brand champions to become a very formidable opponent," Hayden said.

Dear Mr. Hayden,

The Game you play is a Religion Here. Its a passion here in your so called Third world country.

why you came here and Why you didnt dare to say that while you were in india.

And why most of the Australian players are dropping their tongue for getting a chance to play in IPL.

You may be a great player but iam sorry to say same about you as being a sport person.
the australian team know how to sledge, pass comments, and speak bull shit on losing...

and take my word you are best in that.

Dear Mr. Hayden,
You are right that India is third world world country as far as state of our Cricket Stadiums upkeep or efficient operations are concerned and there is need for improvement. We all Indians(Cricket lover country, that we are) are concerned about it. BBCI's reaction was uncalled for in this connection as they are responsible for all the good/bad things that is happening to Indian Cricket. But, coming from an Australian player, with a recent humiliating defeat, is suspect. I do not know, if he was carping about the conditions in India after winning the last series? Or about the conditions in West Indies( No offense to west Indies Cricket Board or any other country that follow),England, South Africa, so on and so forth. It looks like he is trying to deflect the attention from his Captain and Team's defeat. Here, we all admire the "Cricket Australia" for it's scientific and professional approach and know that they are not going to fall for it. Running down the host country, just after the defeat, is certainly what they understand very well. We Indians should not be Ultra-sensitive to such outbursts of a member of a just defeated team.
