Currently, it has facilities at Ambattur in North Chennai besides Bangalore and Noida. Now, apart from taking up additional space in South Chennai to seat 350-plus employees, it is expanding operations at Coimbatore.
In addition to its existing 22,000 sq ft facility, Perot is setting up a campus, covering 1.78 lakh sq ft at the texcity.
Perot Systems, insurance and BPO group MD Vardhman Jain told media persons on Wednesday, its 23,617-sq ft new facility at DLF IT SEZ at Porur in Chennai, would become operational by end-March.
This would accommodate over 1,000 shift seats, taking its total employee strength in India to 7,000. It has signed an initial lease agreement for five years with DLF with a rental of $1 per sq ft.
The company proposes to invest $10 million in the first phase at Coimbatore, where the new campus would come up on 7.2 acres. Perot expects to start business operations there by April 2010.
It has earmarked a total investment of $50 to $60 million for the facility. With a seating capacity of at least 10,000, it would touch an area of one million sq ft in the third phase, Mr Jain said.
Betting big on the healthcare vertical, which currently contributes 47% of its overall turnover, Perot Systems is engaged in talks with four to five private and public healthcare institutions in India. By the first quarter, it is hoping to bag some contracts in this industry, which it considers to be recession-proof.
Mr Jain said its head-count in this country would go up by 700 plus once its ramp up plans are completed. Perot Systems, which typically does two acquisitions annually, is keen on enhancing its intellectual-property value portfolio, instead of doing revenue-based acquisitions.
Rather than large companies, Perot scouts for companies that have $10 to $40 million revenues. The India BPO team at Perot serves over 100 clients globally. The Texas-headquartered company has over 23,000 associates on its rolls.
