Major repercussions of the war in Sri Lanka are now being seen in Tamil Nadu.
A farmer Ravi set himself on fire on Saturday morning to protest against the Sri Lankan army's offensive against the Lankan Tamils near Madurai. He belongs to the Tamil nationalist movement which is a group that is headed by a politician named P Neduraman.
There were also minor protests outside the Madras High Court and outside the Sri Lankan High Commission on Friday. In fact, 34 law students had been arrested in Chennai on Friday after they tried to lay siege to the Sri Lankan High Commission.
